Birmingham, Alabama - Today, the Board of Directors of Central Alabama Pride, Inc. announced the publication of their first electronic newsletter called Pride Pals. In making the announcement, Johnathan Quinn, President, stated; "Pride Pals is a big step forward for our organization. As we continue to grow, we need to make sure that we keep in touch with those people who have expressed an interest in our organization. This newsletter will help us do just that.. This publication couldn't be coming at a better time. We're only 54 days from the start of our '10 Days of Pride' celebration. This newsletter will be just one more vehicle for spreading the news as to the events we have planned."
All registered users of the Central Alabama Pride website are automatically subscribed to the newsletter and features an Opt-Out component for those registered "site users" that do not wish to receive the newsletter. "We are putting the finishing touches on the first issue", Quinn continued, "we're all very excited."

Out & Proud Photo Contest |

With the re-design of the CAP Website, the Board of Directors has announced the Out & Proud Photo Contest. The photo contest is open to anyone wishing to participate. Photos may contain any content (except graphic nudity, no x-rated photos please) and should depict the entrants interpretation of what it's like to be Out & Proud in the Birmingham Metropolitan area.
"One of the main reasons for choosing the new layout for the CAP website was the ability to run photographs across the header of the website" says CAP Webmaster, Michael Parker. "It's something I've been wanting to implement for a while now and the features of this design fit the bill perfectly."

PRIDEFest Headliners Announced |

Birmingham, AL - The Co-Chairmen of the 2008 PRIDEFest Celebration have released the names of the performers who will be headlining the all-day, open-air festival on Sunday, June 8, 2008. In addition to the many talented performers from here in Birmingham, the headliners will be Ultra Naté and Pepper Mashay. Both Ultra Naté and Pepper are well known Divas on International Dance charts and are featured entertainers at Pride Celebrations throughout the U.S.

From the first organized meeting, held in June, 1979, to the
application for recognition as a "Charitable Organization" under the
Internal Revenue Code, to today, CAP has grown and flourished. In February, 2007, the organization received the final declaration from the IRS that their probationary period, after application, was over and they the organization had been approved as an official
501(c)(3) Charitable Organization under the Federal Tax Code. This is
an incredible milestone in the history of the organization as this
status allows the organization to reach a wider spectrum of
benefactors, including corporations that do business in the greater
Birmingham metropolitan area.
